Fort Worth Museum of Science & History launches "Research and Learning Center"

The Living Laboratory team is excited to spread the word about the launch of the Research and Learning Center at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Based on the Living Laboratory® model, the Research and Learning Center is a partnership between the museum and the University of Texas at Arlington's College of Education and Health Professions.

Living Laboratory Addresses Psychology's Image Problem

The National Living Lab team has worked closely with the American Psychological Association to raise awareness about public misconceptions of psychological sciences. An article in APA's online newsletter discusses how Living Laboratory® offers a new model for building public understanding of psychology as a STEM discipline. Living Lab team at WPI's “TouchTomorrow” Science Festival

June 8, 2013: The Living Lab team participated in Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s “TouchTomorrow” Science Festival on Saturday, June 8th. The "Living Laboratory: Ask! Play! Learn!" booth at the Science Carnival was staffed by National Living Lab Coordinator Brittany Jeye and youth staff from the Museum of Science's Teen Psych program. The Living Lab team presented research toys to the public, talking with more than 600 festival-goers about child development, research research and careers in the field of psychology.

National Living Lab team visits Capitol Hill

May 15, 2013: The Living Laboratory team presented at "Investments in STEM Research and Education: Fueling American Innovation", the 19th annual Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) Exhibition & Reception on Capitol Hill on May 7th, 2013. Becki Kipling, project PI, and Marta Biarnes, project co-PI, shared the exciting developments of the Living Lab project with members of Congress and their staffers, representatives of the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other interested attendees.

Living Lab Re-imagines Children's Museums at InterActivity 2013

May 1, 2013: The Living Lab team participated in the MarketPlace at ACM's InterActivity 2013 in Pittsburgh, PA. Staff from the Museum of Science, Maryland Science Center, and Madison Children’s Museum showcased Living Lab’s hands-on “research toys,” and talked to interested museum professionals at the “Living Lab: Ask! Play! Learn!” booth. Resources introduced at the booth are available for download from the Living Laboratory® Tool Kit.

Living Lab launches at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum (Michigan)

March 1, 2013: In December 2012, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum began collaborating with psychologists from the University of Michigan to bring the science of kids to their visitors. Learn More! Thus far, Living Lab research at the museum has focused on children's social cognition and behavior, and how such thinking and behavior develop from early childhood onward.
